Recap: Days 017-020

Ironically I had just mentioned the night before how conscious I wanted to be about our sleep and of course that meant a really late night tonight. We didn’t even start our yoga program until 10 p.m. It will be imperative to get an early night tomorrow and perhaps even a nap. Otherwise, this lack of sleep will create havoc on my mind and body. On a positive note though. We took the kids down to the tennis courts today and my husband and I played tennis while the kids ran around the courts playing with their kites. It was a beautiful day and a wonderful afternoon.

Food:  My juice today was a blend of mango, broccoli, pineapple, and power greens lettuce blend.  For breakfast I was in a rush and had leftover sauteed mushrooms and onions over rice with meatballs.  For snack I munched on a banana and some mango.  For lunch I ate rice with shredded coconut and asian style sausage.  For dinner I made a heart smoothie with chia seeds, flax seeds, blue berry, spinach, grape juice, almond milk, strawberry, banana, and peanut butter.

Exercise: We started our routine so late tonight and I had very little energy. On top of that my left side was still feeling sore, but we did it and it felt great. I would say though that strength is my least favorite – which pretty much means it’s what I should focus on the most.

Today was a great day. My husband was elected to be president of our church this morning, so we spent a good amount of time working together and brainstorming ideas for the new council retreat and goals for the new year. We also left time for plenty of checkers and ping pong with the kids – and even a bike ride/jog down at the trails with the whole family (our dogs too!). It was beautiful weather and we ended the day all playing Oregon Trail. Unfortunately, daddy was the only one who made it to Oregon 😉

Food:  This morning’s juice was a mix of spinach, kale, pineapple, and carrots.  For breakfast I had one of my favorites – tomato and peanut butter with cracked pepper.  Then I snacked on fruit salad, pomegranate, homemade trail mix, celery with peanut butter.  For lunch I had hummus and carrots and a few meatballs.  For dinner I made an egg and cheese omelet with a side of bacon.

Exercise:  Today was amazing!  I felt like I was pushing myself more than ever.  I felt completely connected with my body and I am even starting to see more progress within my flexibility.  I am truly enjoying the slower pace of the Yin Yoga once a week.  It feels like a sweet treat on the body and mind.

I am so tired today, my sleep is all out of balance again and even though I’ve been trying to get back on track I’ve been having difficulty.  I have noticed myself being less productive and more irritable today which makes me disappointed.  I’d love to say bedtime will be early tonight, but I think it’s just going to be an on time kind of day. I’m hoping I can make up some sleep this weekend.

Food:  I started the day with a beets, carrots, pineapple, and apple juice.  Then for breakfast I had tomatoes and peanut butter.  For lunch I ate a serving of homemade trail mix, some baked kale, and an avocado with feta cheese and balsamic dressing – which was amazing!  Then I snacked on almonds, pomegranate seeds, and watermelon.  And since lunch was sooo good, for dinner I  had baked kale, and another avocado with feta cheese and balsamic dressing.

Exercise:  Today’s Detox program was really good.  I truly felt in the zone and enjoyed the process of “ringing myself out”.  I was utterly exhausted by the end.  I am definintely giving it my all which makes me extremely fatigued by the end. And every time Travis says “set yourself up for 5 yogi style push ups” I kind of want to cry. Lol. It’s the one part that I dread because my muscles are so fatigued, but I on a positive note – they are getting easier!

On Tuesdays I attend a book group at my church.  The current book is focused on being beloved.   This week the chapter focused on gratitude and pushing away negative thoughts.   It was

Food:  This morning I blended a juice of beets, cucumber, watermelon, and apple.  For breakfast I ate my traditional tomato with peanut butter.  For lunch I again had an avocado with balsamic dressing, feta cheese.  Throughout the day I snacked on trail mix, almonds, banana, and watermelon.  And then for dinner I melted cheese in a corn tortilla and added avocado, sour cream, red bell pepper, and sriracha- it was awesome!

Exercise:  My focus during practice continues to strengthen, especially as I become stronger.  I find myself more able to focus on the breathe resulting in me being more present, connected, and engaged.  I cannot say enough how much I am loving yoga.
