I am still adjusting to the morning routine. Especially on Thursdays and Fridays when we wake up at 5 am. Doing the practice in the mornings has its pros and cons. It is awesome to have your yoga complete before you jump into anything else, but my body is just not as warmed up as in the evenings. On a different note, my in-laws are here and watched the kids so my husband and I could take a date night – that was much appreciated!

Food: We juiced broccoli, spinach, carrots, mango and pineapple today – yum! I snacked on peanut butter, tomatoes, hummus and peppers, grapes and almonds. For lunch I had chicken lunch meat and provolone rolled up. For dinner I made Gluten free chicken enchiladas. I also had butter popcorn flavor frozen yogurt at the movie theater – it was the healthiest option they offered although probably went against my common sense.

Exercise: Today felt like my best day yet. I really felt connected to my breath and in the zone. It has only been a little over a week, but I can definitely see changes in my strength already. I find myself loving the cardio too because you work really hard for a short period and then the remainder feels like a big hug on your body.

I am really enjoying the journey we are on and I am finding new things I love in life. One of my new finds is peppermint tea. Since I gave up the coffee, I still long for a warm drink to get me going in the morning. The peppermint tea has been just that. It is caffeine free which is perfect and it doesn’t need any sweetener as the flavor is enjoyable on its own. My kids love it too. And as a perk, it seems to open up my sinuses and help me breathe better.

Food: This morning’s juice was broccoli, carrots, spinach and carrots. For snack I ate hummus and carrots and watermelon. I got stuck for lunch and had to get food on the run so I picked up a Pollo Tropical TropiChop with chicken, peppers, onions, white rice, lettuce, and salsa. Then for dinner we ate at 4 Rivers with my in-laws and I had the Messy Pig without a bun and some sweet potato mash. It was indulgently delicious.

Exercise: There is no doubt that I am getting stronger. I was so excited today that I was able to hold the plank for the entire time. I find strength to be the most challenging video for me so far, but I can already see improvement. Just like yesterday, I felt very connected today. I’m definitely finding myself in a greater state of flow during each program.

Today we tackled the second birthday party of the weekend. I was not tempted at the first to delve into the sweets, but by the second of the weekend the temptation won. There were yogurt dipped strawberries and marshmallows and I just couldn’t help myself. It wouldn’t have been that bad, but after lunch we had already gotten Gelato! I’m sure Travis would shake his head at me “oh no…not the sugar!”, but I’m not going to lie…they were awesome!

Food: Our juice today was a combination of watermelon, beets, and cucumber and it was surprisingly good. Then for snack I ate almonds, watermelon, yogurt dipped strawberries and one yogurt dipped marshmallow. For lunch we had Tijuana Flats chicken enchiladas with tortilla chips and then after we went to Jeremiah’s for Scoop Froggy Frog Italian Ice. We went out to eat again with my in-laws, tonight to Carrabbas. I had the tomato basil salmon and steamed spinach and it was delicious!

Exercise: I was excited to do the Yin Yoga today as we really enjoyed it last week. It is less intense and so it feels almost like a rest day, because the program takes you through 3-5 minute holds in each pose. It is nice to really breathe through the poses. That said, we practiced in the morning and it was really cold out. I found it harder to warm up so my body was extra inflexible. On top of that my kids crept out of their beds earlier than usual and so we kept getting interrupted. Today was the opposite of flow.

Have I mentioned how much I am falling in love with yoga. I mean, seriously in love. There are definitely days where it is harder to hit the mat, but I truly love this practice. It allows me to just be. I love being in tune with my breath and my body.  This is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made and I could not be more thrilled with the program.  I am extra excited that I have my husband on this journey with me.  I feel very blessed to have him by my side during every practice.

Food: Today I juiced beat greens, pineapple, carrots, and watermelon. For a snack I ate peanut butter and celery, hummus, and watermelon. For lunch I rolled up some chicken cold cuts with provolone cheese and stuffed bacon in the middle. For dinner we stayed in tonight! I served another round of my homemade chicken enchiladas but this time with the addition of my homemade salsa and tortilla chips.

Exercise: Detox was amazing! Well, except for the whole “move yourself under the barbed wire” move – that’s tough! But I am feeling more and more connected with my body and breathe during every program. I feel more in control with each movement especially as my strength increases.
